The Verge Learning Experience

Verge Learning works with schools and districts to create custom professional development experiences for staff. That sounds pretty open-ended, and in many ways it is. My experience is vast, I am a constant learner, and my strength is empowering learners through varied and targeted facilitation. If you have a specific goal in mind, we will collaborate to find the best method to engage your staff with the right content to achieve that goal. What really sets me apart though, is that I am adamant about the power and necessity of FOLLOW-UP COACHING to move an initiative or idea from professional development to authentic practice.

Education Consulting for...

  • Educational Equity
  • Collaborative Coaching, including Follow-Up Coaching
  • Student Engagement
  • Standards-Based Teaching & Learning, including Standards-Based Grading
  • Rubrics for Learning
  • Structures to support Bilingual Programs
  • Differentiation Instruction
  • Advanced and Gifted Learners
  • Integrated Teaching Through the Arts
  • Multi-Genre Creative Writing & Critical Reading
  • From Project-Based to Authentic Learning

What I Believe...

  • The change process varies for each person, but all lasting change in the classroom requires reflection, a focus on student learning, and follow-up coaching.
  • Professional Development should be delivered using/modeling effective instructional strategies.
  • Teacher dialogue and collaboration are essential to effective professional development.
  • Professional growth should focus on what a teacher is already on the VERGE of doing well, not their greatest weakness.
  • An equity lens is embedded in every form of professional development.
  • School leadership should learn side-by-side with teachers.
  • Site-based teacher leadership and expertise is an essential part of a quality professional development plan.
